A 22-year-old Cheektowaga man who threatened to kill himself early Sunday surrendered without incident after the town SWAT team and hostage negotiation unit arrived and spent almost two hours talking with him, police said.
The man called police to the Walden Avenue address shortly before 3 a.m. and said he had a gun. Police continued talking with the man by phone and he surrendered about 5:40 a.m. No gun was found.
The man was taken to Erie County Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation.
No charges were filed. The identity of the man was not released.
