A 22-year-old Bronx man on Thursday admitted using counterfeit credit cards to steal $20,000 worth of iPads from the Apple Store at the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga.Stephen P. Moore pleaded guilty to felony fourth-degree grand larceny before Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio.Moore used nearly a dozen counterfeit credit cards during several visits to the store between Dec. 1, 2012, and Jan. 4, 2013, Assistant District Attorney Candace K. Vogel said in court. The grand larceny conviction carries a prison sentence of up to four years, but DiTullio told Moore she is inclined to sentence him to probation when he is sentenced on March 27 because of his cooperation with authorities. His cooperation led authorities to the individual who made the counterfeit credit cards in Syracuse. That person has been indicted, Vogel said. The judge said she would order Moore to pay restitution to those whose credit card accounts were charged for the iPads.Moore remained in custody late Thursday in the Erie County Holding Center.
