City of Tonawanda police issued a warning to residents about a robbery Sunday evening involving an iPhone 5 listed for sale on Craig’s List.
The victim was answering an ad on the internet site for an iPhone 5 selling for $400. The purported seller told the victim, via text message, to meet in an area near the Tonawanda Housing Authority.
When the victim arrived, police said, he was jumped by two “males” while a third stood by and watched. The victim’s iPhone 3 was taken during the attack.
Police warned residents to be aware of such scams.
Anyone who witnessed the attack or has information about the incident is asked to call police at 692-2121 ext. 308.
