A Cheektowaga man faces attempted burglary and other charges after police said he fired a rifle into a first-floor flat last week.

Darold Page, 22, of Claudette Court, was arrested following an investigation by Detectives Joseph Crean and Terry Griffin, based on information they gleaned from area residents .

The incident was related to animosity between Page and an occupant of the flat down the street from his own residence, according to Cheektowaga Police Chief David J. Zack.

Several gunshots were fired into the house during the early-morning incident while several people, including children, were in the apartment, Zack said. The gunshots damaged a window, a couch and a computer but none of the residencts were injured, he said.

Page was briefly jailed Thursday on first-degree attempted burglary, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal mischief and child endangerment charges, Zack said.

He pleaded not guilty before Town Justice Dennis Delano and was released on $500 bail pending further court proceedings.
