NIAGARA FALLS – An Eighth Street man was arrested Friday night after a 55 mph chase over city streets that ended in the crash of the stolen car into a parked van, police said.
Dejuan R. Savage, 23, jumped from the car after the crash at 10:12 p.m. and fled through yards in the 1600 block of Linwood Avenue before being caught, police said.
Savage, who was intoxicated, stole the 2009 Buick from a Cayuga Island woman, police added. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding, leaving the scene of an accident, unlicensed operation, first-degree criminal possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and resisting.
The suspect was ordered held without bail pending a hearing in City Court.
