A 26-year-old Sloan woman was sentenced Wednesday to two to four years in prison for stealing more than $44,125 from her grandfather’s bank account by forging checks to herself.

Jennifer Furan, of Francis Avenue, pleaded guilty last month to third-degree grand larceny, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

Furan committed the crime while she was on probation for a criminal possession of stolen property conviction in 2010. She still owed some $6,000 in restitution from the earlier crime.

Erie County Judge Michael Pietruszka revoked her probation and sentenced her to one to three years in prison on the 2010 conviction. She will serve that sentence plus the prison term for the grand larceny conviction at the same time.

Pietruszka also ordered Furan to make restitution for the most recent crime.

Furan had faced a prison term of up to seven years as a second felony offender.
