NIAGARA FALLS – A Wheatfield resident chased a man who allegedly was trying to break into his pickup truck Sunday night and held him for police.
Manuel L. Diaz, 26, of Hyde Park Boulevard was charged with petit larceny and possession of burglary tools at 9:30 p.m. Sunday near the VFW Post 917, in the 2400 block of Seneca Avenue.
The truck’s owner told police that he was having a beer inside the VFW post when the bartender notified him that there was someone near his 2011 GMC Sierra pickup. The owner said he went outside, found Diaz in the truck, confronted him, chased him when he fled and held him for police.
Diaz, who was arrested without incident, was found with a small hammer, wrench, black face mask and black gloves, as well as three GPS units, police reported.
