NIAGARA FALLS – Police said a woman considered legally blind from Bowling Green, Ohio, was raped Friday morning by a man she had befriended on a bus ride to Niagara Falls.
The 30-year-old victim told police she took a train to Buffalo, then a bus to Niagara Falls. During the bus ride, she said, she agreed to smoke marijuana with the man in return for transportation to the border to visit Niagara Falls, Ont., police said.
After arriving in the city about 1 a.m., the two walked for 10 to 15 minutes before entering an abandoned house, possibly in the neighborhood of Eighth or Ninth streets, police said. The victim, said the man proceeded to stash a handgun, some marijuana and heroin in the home before raping the woman, police added. The man also stole prescription medications from the victim’s purse, police said.
She was treated in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
The attacker is described as a Hispanic male, about 5-foot-8 and 250 pounds with a muscular build.
