A North Tonawanda man who Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies said was asleep behind the wheel of his car at a Grand Island intersection was charged with DWI.
Deputy Robert Galbraith was patrolling Webb Road on Grand Island around midnight Saturday when he spotted a car stopped at the intersection of Webb and Baseline roads with the driver asleep behind the wheel.
The driver, William H. Grosskopf, 42, of Nash Road in North Tonawanda, took field sobriety tests and a chemical breath test, which showed that he had a blood alcohol count of 0.11 percent, deputies said.
Grosskopf’s car was towed from the scene. He was given an appearance ticket to Grand Island Town Court and he was released to a third party, deputies said.
This was the 64th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff’s Road Patrol this year.
