LOCKPORT – A man pleaded guilty in State Supreme Court Thursday to having had cocaine with the intention of selling it three years ago in Niagara Falls.
Maurice Mackey, 32, of Chapel Street, Lockport, admitted to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and was assigned to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment by Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. As a repeat felon because of a 2010 drug conviction in Monroe County, Mackey risks 12 years in prison if he fails in diversion. His charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor if he succeeds.
Mackey, then a Falls resident was the front-seat passenger in a car stopped by police on D Street in the Falls Aug. 26, 2011.
In another Falls drug case before Kloch, Casey C. Walls, 35, of Zito Drive, pleaded not guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana. He was arrested Oct. 30 after a search by his federal probation officer turned up alleged cocaine.
