LOCKPORT – John P. Hill, who has been convicted of drunken driving four times, was sentenced to 1 1/3 to four years in state prison Thursday by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr.

“You’ve got to decide whether you want your freedom or whether you want these periods where you drink to excess,” Kloch told Hill, 38, of Mount Hope Road on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation.

The sentence was a concurrent one for a Nov. 23 Lewiston arrest that also constituted a probation violation for Hill’s 2010 driving while intoxicated conviction. The latter stemmed from a crash in which Hill’s vehicle rear-ended another in Wheatfield.

Hill’s DWI resume also includes convictions in Salamanca in 2006 and the Town of Niagara in 2008.
