Two Main Street businesses reported the theft of some of their equipment over the weekend, but the thieves didn’t carry some of it very far. Last Friday morning between 6 and 8 a.m., burglars forced their way into a day care center and University District Commmunity Development Association, housed in the Gloria J. Parks Community Center at 3242 Main St., and stole several computers, other computer equipment and a digital camera. The intruders also damaged doors, locks and safes in an apparent effort to find more valuables.
Police reported that some of the computer equipment was found hidden behind garbage totes at the rear of the building and was recovered.
The value of the missing equipment and damages to the offices are estimated at more than $3,000.
