MAYVILLE - A 28-year-old Westfield man is facing snowmobiling while intoxicated charges after hitting a Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputy’s car, the Sheriff’s Office reported today.
Michael J. Trippy was spotted about 12:43 a.m. Saturday nearly hitting a vehicle on Route 430 with his snowmobile when crossing the highway near Bloomer Road, the Sheriff’s Office said. When a deputy attempted to pull Trippy over, he continued on the roadway then struck the deputy’s vehicle, they said. No injuries were reported.
Trippy was charged with snowmobiling while intoxicated, reckless operation, failure to stop before crossing a highway, and failure to yield while crossing a highway. He was arraigned in Town of Chautauqua Court and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.
