Amherst Police detectives are seeking public help in a man who walked out of the Sheridan Drive Walmart supercenter at about midnight Jan. 6 with a cart full of Dyson vacuum cleaners and other merchandise worth more than $1,700 without paying for the items.
Detectives said surveillance footage shows the suspect to be a white man in his 40s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 175 pounds, with light brown hair, wearing glasses, blue jeans and a black leather coat. He left the story parking lot in a blue, four-door vehicle, possibly an older model Chevy Malibu with newer style yellow and blue New York State license plates, according to witnesses. Video footage of the man and his vehicle are on the Amherst Police Department’s Facebook page.
