A 34-year-old Buffalo, man already jailed for a local robbery arrest, and his now-estranged girlfriend have pleaded guilty to felony drug charges for allegedly trying to sneak Soboxone into the Erie County Holding Center in January, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Richard Newman, who is awaiting trial in the robbery case, will be sentenced by Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio on April 22 on his prison contraband plea. Jessica Wozniak, 29, of Depew, faces sentencing by DiTullio on the same charge on May 12.
Senior Detective Alan Rozansky, head of the sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, said after Wozniak and Newman schemed months ago to try to sneak the drug into the downtown lockup, they apparently became estranged and she obtained an order of protection against Newman for his repeated telephone calls to her from the Holding Center.
