The arrest of a Greece, New York, man for recent robberies of banks in Depew, Cheektowaga and the Rochester area, was announced late Tuesday.

Joseph S. Cumbo, 34, of Red Hickory Street in the Rochester suburb was taken into custody Monday in his home by a combined team of FBI agents, Monroe County sheriff’s deputies, Town of Greece police officers and detectives from Depew and Cheektowaga. Cumbo is being held on federal robbery charges.

Speaking for the arrest team, Det. Sgt. Don Panzarella of the Depew Detective Bureau said the investigation involved law enforcement agencies “who worked together sharing information and leads which were developed as a result of numerous man hours. If not for the cooperation and communications we all shared, we may not have solved these crimes as quickly as we did.”
