LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man who burglarized a house on 23rd Street in the Falls last year was placed on five years’ probation Friday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.
Douglas VanWormer, 33, of Webb Place, had pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree burglary. Defense attorney James J. Faso Jr. had argued that VanWormer had a right to be in the house because of the terms of a real estate deal, but got into a fight with the owner and was injured before being arrested.
Farkas ordered VanWormer to pay $1,031 in restitution for damages.
