LOCKPORT – William S. Johnson, 35, of South Transit Street, pleaded guilty to two crimes Friday and was assigned to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III.
Johnson faces up to nine years in prison if he washes out of diversion, but if he succeeds, he will receive a probation sentence for a misdemeanor.
He admitted to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Johnson said he bought some crack cocaine July 18 from a Lockport man who turned out to be a police informant. When the man called him 45 minutes later and said he needed to buy back $100 worth of the drug, Johnson sold it to him outside a Tim Hortons store and was immediately arrested.
On June 14, Johnson said, he borrowed a friend’s car and put it in a ditch near Outwater Park in Lockport. The owner called the police and complained that the car hadn’t been returned in a timely fashion.
