A 21-year-old Lackawanna man faces arraignment today in Erie County Court on an indictment in the Feb. 15 fatal stabbing of Tequila Suter.

Damoni Hall, of Lehigh Avenue, was taken into custody at a downtown attorney’s office in Buffalo at about 4 p.m. Thursday, according to Capt. Joseph Leo, Lackawanna chief of detectives. Hall is in custody in the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.

Leo said he could not comment on the charges in the still-sealed indictment.

Suter, who was working both as a teacher’s aide at Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled and as a counseling specialist for the Home Space organization, was found fatally stabbed in her first-floor flat at Wilkesbarre and Lebanon streets at about 1 p.m. Feb. 16.

She is believed to have been killed there sometime on Feb. 15. She had previously worked at Baker Victory Services.

She was studying toward an online degree in criminal justice and child psychology, according to family members.

Lackawanna Mayor Geoffrey Szymanski, commenting on the arrest, said, “I’m not satisfied with having murderers in our city, but I am satisfied that our police force has worked diligently to get to the bottom of it and made an arrest in this situation.”

Leo would not comment on whether other suspects are being sought in connection with events leading up to the fatal stabbing.

Suter, a 2006 graduate of Lockport High School, moved to Lackawanna after she took a job at Baker Victory Services.
