ATTICA – A 54-year-old Varysburg woman was fatally injured and an 88-year-old Akron man suffered chest injuries in a two-car crash on Route 98 just south of Lindsey Road in the Town of Attica about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, State Police reported.
Terry J. O’Neill was rushed to Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw with severe head injuries but died there at about 4 p.m.
Richard M. Rudolph was taken to Buffalo’s Erie County Medicalk Center for treatment of what authorities said were non-life-threatening chest injuries.
Police said O’Neill was southbound on the snow-covered Route 98, lost control of her vehicle and crossed into the northbound lane where it was struck by Rudolph’s car. Both cars ended up in a field on the east side of Route 98. State Police Troop A’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the fatal accident. State troopers were assisted at the crash scene by Attica and Varysburg Fire and rescue personnel and Wyoming County sheriff’s deputies and Wyoming County’s Medic 80 crew.
