A Springville man was arrested today by the Erie County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit for allegedly peddling large quantities of hydrocodone in and around the village, as well as parts of Erie and Niagara counties, Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard said.

The arrest of Gerald Stresing, 42, of Colonial Drive, is part of an ongoing investigation into what Howard described as “a county and area-wide escalating problem of opiate abuse.”

Howard said the arrest of Stresing was the culmination of a three-month-long investigation which involved an undercover sheriff’s deputy making multiple purchases of prescription Lortabs from Stresing.

Stresing will remain in the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment later this week on several felony drug possession and sales charges, the sheriff said.
