Falls woman charged with dealing painkillers

LOCKPORT – Cara M. Toarmino, 28, of 24th Street, Niagara Falls, who was arrested after a Falls officer making a traffic stop Aug. 1 allegedly found painkillers in the car, pleaded not guilty to a four-count indictment Monday in Niagara County Court.

She is charged with third-, fourth- and fifth-degree possession and third-degree sale of a controlled substance. Also named in the indictment but not yet arraigned is Michael J. Paonessa III, 23, of Niagara Street in the Falls; he is charged with third-degree sale and possession.

Assistant District Attorney Laura T. Bittner said oxymorphone, hydrocodone and acetaminophen allegedly were found in plain view by the police officer.

In another drug case Monday, Ralph X. Gillon, 44, of Niagara Avenue in the Falls, pleaded not guilty to two counts each of third-degree sale and possession. He is accused of selling crack cocaine April 16 and 22 to a Falls police informant who was wearing a recording device.
