A two-story house at 664 William Street caught fire when a torch was used to repair a roof, according to the Buffalo Fire Department.
The fire was called in at 1:16 p.m. Sunday, and fire crews were on the scene for about an hour. About $5,000 in damage was reported.
Later Sunday afternoon, $45,000 in damage was caused to a vacant two-and-a-half story house at 17 Southampton St., according to the department.
The fire was reported at 3:58 p.m. The cause is under investigation.
No injuries were reported at either fire.
