SHERMAN – The Ripley driver of one car involved in Saturday’s head-on collision on Pelton Road in Sherman was listed in critical condition Sunday in Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa.
Dakota Bird, 19, was taken by ambulance to Westfield Hospital, then airlifted by Starflight to the Erie hospital.
The driver and one of two passengers in the other car, Ronald Miller, 21, of Mayville, and Stephany Cloutier, 20, of Ripley, are also patients in Hamot but their conditions were unavailable.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said Miller was flown directly to Hamot from the crash scene by Stat Medivac, while Cloutier traveled there by ambulance. A second passenger, Robert Gilbert, 20, of Mayville, was not injured.
The crash occurred at 2:32 a.m. as Bird was driving south and Miller was driving north. The collision occurred at a hillcrest on Pelton, deputies said. Victims were extricated from the wreckage.
An investigation is being conducted.
