Three men were charged this week with running an illegal drug operation out of a Parker Avenue home in North Buffalo, city Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards announced Wednesday evening.

Thomas C. Loening, 60, of the Parker Avenue address; Scott M. Utke, 39, of Cleveland, Ohio; and Frederick J. Hayden-Larsen, 54, of Rochester were taken into custody about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Richards said.

All three men were charged with felony counts of criminal possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of narcotic pills outside their original container.

Narcotics Squad detectives, under the command of Lts. Paul R. Delano and Michael J. Flowers, used a search warrant issued by Chief City Court Judge Thomas P. Amodeo and seized in the home near Hertel Avenue a quantity of illegal narcotics, including crystallized methamphetamine and Ketamine, Oxycodone, crack pipes, a digital scale and packaging. A quantity of marijuana was also seized in a 2009 Kia driven by Hayden-Larson, Richards said.

Richard said the investigation of the alleged drug operation was conducted by Detectives Shawn D. Adams and Raymond M. Krug. Narcotics investigators were assisted by Officer Dennis J. Kessler and his K-9 partner Duke, who was utilized in the search of the home for drugs.

Richards called the drug raid the latest of over 630 search warrants that have been executed throughout the city, so far this year “as the Buffalo Police Department continues to rid the community of illegal weapons, narcotics and other evidence linked to criminal activities.”
