LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man who worked out a plea deal in a strongarm robbery case went free Tuesday, having served his maximum jail sentence as imposed earlier in the day by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III.
David Anthony, 21, of Ontario Avenue, was sentenced to five years of probation, beginning with six months in jail.
He had already served that time, having been held since his July 26 arraignment that eventually led to a guilty plea to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree robbery and his agreement to testify if necessary against co-defendant Tyrell J. Jordan, 20, of 18th Street.
Jordan, who faces up to seven years in prison, is to be sentenced March 13 for third-degree robbery and a separate attempted second-degree burglary charge.
Anthony had testified that Jordan was apparently trying to make a drug deal with a man who fled the car the three were in, June 20 on Cleveland Avenue in the Falls. He said Jordan ran the man down and called on Anthony to help steal his money.
