A Buffalo man was arraigned Tuesday on charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in a shooting last summer during a July 4 street party on the East Side.

State Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang set bail at $35,000 for Christopher Pratt, 25. who was indicted in the shooting, which occurred early July 5 on Montana Avenue. He was arrested Monday on an indictment warrant issued in early December.

Pratt is accused of shooting the 30-year-old victim just after midnight in the first block of Montana, which runs between East Ferry Street and Genesee Street. The shooting, which followed a dice game, partially blinded the victim, who was in a hospital for more than a month, according to prosecutors.

Assistant District Attorney John Feroleto said Pratt had pleaded guilty to attempted arson in May 2009 in connection with a fire on Bissell Street.

Upon conviction, the attempted murder and assault charges carry prison sentences of up to 25 years, while the weapon charge carries a sentence of up to 15 years.
