Two motorists were charged late last weekend with aggravated driving while intoxicated, as State Police and members of the Buffalo Police Department’s Strike Force Unit teamed up on the city’s West Side.
Kristina L. Schmitt, 29, of Buffalo, had been pulled over Sunday night on Niagara Street for failure to keep right, troopers said. A breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of .22; she also was cited for the traffic infraction.
Schmitt was released, pending an appearance in Buffalo City Court.
Clifford A. Johnson, 50, also of Buffalo, was stopped Sunday on Forest Avenue for failure to keep right and having an obstructed license plate, troopers said. A breath test indicated a BAC of .19, troopers said; he also was cited for the vehicle and traffic law violations.
Johnson was sent to the Erie County Holding Center pending a court appearance.
The aggravated DWI charge applies when a person’s BAC is .18 or more.
