Two people were injured in a four-vehicle chain-reaction crash that also backed up southbound traffic on Route 5 near the Tifft Street exit early this afternoon.
Early reports from the scene indicated that one person suffered a serious leg injury, while emergency workers also called for a neck collar for one of the injured people. An ambulance removed them from the scene.
The accident, reported shortly after noon, involved a tractor-trailer and three other vehicles.
Buffalo police and firefighters rushed to the scene, as the traffic snarl caused some delay in getting the second ambulance to the scene.
