LOCKPORT – Cariorl D. Mayfield, 20, of Eighth Street, Niagara Falls was sentenced Thursday to four years in state prison for cocaine and hydrocodone possession.
A Niagara County Court jury convicted Mayfield Sept. 13 of fourth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas, who also imposed $425 in fines and surcharges, presided over the trial, which resulted from charges lodged after an Oct. 13, 2012, traffic stop in the Falls.
In another drug case Thursday, Farkas sentenced Joseph A. Zavarella, 49, of Ontario Street, Lockport, to a year in state prison for attempted fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance: 1.06 grams of cocaine seized in a Feb. 21 police raid on his residence.
