A Cheektowaga teen has pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for firing a gun at his mother’s house last year after an argument.
Robert Kowalewski IV, 19, of Ridge Park Avenue, admitted firing the shot Nov. 26 outside the home. He was arrested less than a block away. Cheektowaga Police Officers Garrett Slawatycki and David Filipski found a loaded .25 caliber pistol in his jacket pocket. A spent shell casing was found in the street in front of the Kowalewski residence.
Kowalewski faces a minimum prison sentence of 3½ years and a maximum of 15 years when he is sentenced March 31 by Erie County Judge Michael L. D’Amico, according to District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.
In another case, Christopher Steiner, 45, of Franklinville, pleaded guilty to second-degree weapon possession. He admitted having a .22 semi-automatic pistol loaded with 10 rounds when he was stopped for speeding Oct. 28 on Olean Road in the Town of Sardinia. He faces a minimum prison sentence of 3½ years and a maximum of 15 years when he is sentenced Feb. 19 by D’Amico.
