Thirteen men and three women – including a Florida man wanted in that state on cocaine trafficking charges and an Akron couple charged with child neglect – are being held at the Erie County Holding Center following an court warrant pickup operation Wednesday by the Erie County Sheriff’s Family Court Child Support Enforcement Unit and patrol and civil deputies.
Sheriff Timothy B. Howard said the sweep unexpectedly led to the arrest of Victor Gonzalez on Eckhert Street in Buffalo. Gonzalez is a fugitive on Orange County, Fla. in a cocaine trafficking case and will soon face an extradition hearing,
Among the Family Court suspects arrested on warrants issued for child neglect, failure to pay child support or related domestic affairs issues were Shiloh and Jason Ferns, of Knapp Road, Akron. The Ferns are being held in a child neglect case, the sheriff said.
The warrant sweep also unexpectedly lea to the arrests of two men wanted in Buffalo City Court and a man wanted in West Seneca Town Court. All three face a variety of criminal and vehicle and traffic charges, the sheriff said.
