A discarded receipt is used to get cash for bus fare

NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls man said he cashed in some stolen merchandise, using a discarded receipt, to obtain cash for bus fare at a Sally Beauty Supply store in the 7200 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard on Wednesday.

David A. Ferris Jr., 33, of Ninth Street, was charged with petit larceny for stealing make up valued at $5.39 at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

A store clerk said Ferris was in the store and asked about the store return policy and then was seen outside looking through the trash can. He then came inside and returned a liquid eyeliner valued at $5.39, but the clerk became suspicious and noticed that the item was shown to be still be in the store inventory.

Ferris was located by police at the bus stop and they said he admitted he had taken the merchandise and used a discarded receipt to obtain cash for bus fare.
