Sentencing delayed in Inglima sex case

LOCKPORT – Sentencing on a sex charge against former Hertel Avenue and Lewiston restaurateur Filippo Inglima was delayed for a month Wednesday to try to avoid conflicts with his federal sentencing on cocaine and marijuana distribution charges.

Inglima, 46, of Wheatfield, is to be deported to Italy after he serves a 121-month sentence in federal prison, imposed last month by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The sentence for second-degree sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl in 2004, to be imposed by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas, is expected to be served simultaneously

However, Inglima has been free since Arcara’s Dec. 17 sentencing. Assistant District Attorney Robert A. Zucco said Wednesday that the federal Bureau of Prisons will send Inglima a letter about when his prison term will start.

“Within two months, they will assign him to a facility and give him a week to report,” Zucco said.

Defense attorney Andrew C. LoTempio obtained a postpone of Farkas’ sentencing until Feb. 5 to avoid any confusion between the state and federal prison systems that might result from Inglima being jailed locally.
