MAYVILLE – Jury selection in the second-degree murder trial for Anthony R. Taglianetti II begins Tuesday.
The former Dale City, Va., resident is charged with driving to New York on Sept. 21 and shooting Keith Reed Jr., former superintendent of Clymer Central School, over an alleged affair between Reed and Taglianetti’s wife.
Taglianetti was extradited to Chautauqua County in December and remains in the Chautauqua County Jail. Taglianetti appeared in court in July for pre-trial hearings on evidence and identification.
Several hundred jurors have reportedly been notified to appear for the selection process. Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley said he expects the process to continue for several days. Each side gets 23 dismissals in the case.
Foley expects the trial to begin on Oct. 3. “I have my first witness scheduled on Oct. 3 and I expect opening arguments will probably be that same day,” he said.
