A Lackawanna man convicted of food stamp fraud was sentenced to 15 months in prison Friday by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

Riyadh Almadrahi, 35, also was ordered to pay $143,700 in restitution to the United States Department of Agriculture.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert C. Moscati said Almadrahi took part in operating a deli known as Zip’s Food and Beverage in Buffalo and would illegally exchange customers’ food stamp benefits for cash.
