NIAGARA FALLS – Police charged a Buffalo man Tuesday for his role in the robbery last month of a Bank of America branch on Military Road near Niagara Falls Boulevard.

Ronald J. Mclendon, 26, of Potomac Avenue, Buffalo was charged with first-degree robbery. He was allegedly one of three men involved in the robbery of the branch at 1263 Military Road on Aug. 6.

A codefendant, Allen Strain, 27, of Central Avenue, Buffalo was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree robbery. Niagara Falls police said Strain gave a note to a teller claiming he had a gun and demanded money. However no weapon was displayed, police said. The teller told Strain to wait while she got the money, then activated a silent alarm, police said.

Strain was found unarmed and was arrested without incident.

Mclendon was allegedly one of two accomplices who fled the scene. A third accomplice is being sought.
