WHEATFIELD – A driver stopped for driving 63 in a 45 per hour zone at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of River Road was found with beer cans under the front seats and had a blood alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit, authorities said.
Nicholas W. Walck, 21, of Plaza Drive, Wheatfield, was charged by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and speeding.
He told deputies he had one beer prior to driving, but deputies said he was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.14 percent, nearly twice the legal limit for intoxicated driving of 0.08 percent.
In addition to the unopened beer, deputies said they found multiple baggies with trace amounts of marijuana and a scale.
