LeROY – A Brockport motorcyclist was killed early Friday in a collision with a Smart car driven by an out-of-state driver making a U-turn, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Joshua J. Lowery, 26, was heading west on North Road at 6:30 a.m. when the accident occurred. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jeffery J. Simek, 55, of New Smyrna, Fla., was also westbound on North when he attempted a U-turn, turning into the path of the motorcycle and causing the collision, said Chief Deputy Gordon Dibble of the Road Patrol Division.
Simek, who was not injured, was returning to Frost Ridge Campground on Conlon Road, where he was staying, Dibble said.
Dibble said charges against Simek are pending the result of the investigation.
The town of Leroy Fire Department assisted at the scene along with medics from Mercy EMS. The investigation is being conducted by the Genesee County Sheriff’s crash management team.
