NIAGARA FALLS – A 69-year-old man told police that someone placed two plastic bottles in his yard that exploded when he tried to pick them up.
The victim was not injured and no property was damaged.
He said two bottles were placed in his backyard in the 2400 block of Ferry Avenue and another in the alley behind it, sometime between 8 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Monday. He said he picked up the bottles to throw them in a trash can and two of the bottles exploded.
An officer found two plastic soda bottles and a water bottle, along with an unknown liquid and pieces of aluminum foil, which are commonly found on bottle bombs.
Police said they don’t know whether the man was the intended target.
