A City of Tonawanda man was convicted of a crime for the 17th time in his 24 years, this time for burglary, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest, Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III announced Friday.
Cody Little, of Oliver Street, was convicted after a three-day trial before State Supreme Court Justice William Boller.
Authorities said he broke into a former employer’s home in Williamsville last Nov. 14 and evaded arrest for nearly two months.
On Jan. 6, City of Tonawanda Detective Joseph Scarapena tried to arrest Little on an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop, authorities said. Little refused to turn off his car, and he slammed on the gas pedal when Scarapena tried to take the keys, dragging Scarapena more than 50 feet of the Twin City Highway, the district attorney said. Little was found by U.S. marshals four days later, hiding in a bedroom closet, authorities said.
He faces a maximum of 15 years in state prison and will be sentenced on Sept. 11. The district attorney will seek the maximum penalty due to his 16 prior convictions.
