Thanks to Capt. Kevin Caffery and his Air One helicoptor of the Erie County Sheriff’s Department, the Town of Evans police this afternoon shut down marijuana patches on Bennett Road and on Southwestern Boulevard. A 63-year-old man whose identify the police refused to release was arrested and charged with unlawful growing of cannabis for the Bennett Road incident. No suspects have been identified for the other patch.
Caffery called Evans police about 3 p.m. and reported spotting several marijuana plants in a rear yard in the 700 block of Bennett. A few minutes later he called again from his helicopter to report spotting marijuana plants in a rural area in the 7000 block of Southwestern. Evans police confiscated all the plants at both locations and continue to investigate both incidents.
