ALBION – A Rochester teen was injured Thursday in a fireworks explosion at a camp site in the Orleans County Town of Murray, sheriff’s deputies reported.
Brent A. Mead, 19, was setting off fireworks on private property along Ridge Road late Thursday afternoon when one exploded within the mortar shell he was holding, injuring his hands and chest. He was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he was listed in satisfactory condition this morning.
Deputies said the remaining fireworks were confiscated and Mead may face charges.
