Tourists vehicles targets in Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – A number tourists reported vehicle break-ins over the weekend.

A Texas family flagged down police at 1 p.m. Sunday at Buffalo Avenue and Third Street to report a vehicle break-in. They said they had stopped for an hour to visit the Falls.

The front and rear windows of the Honda Suburban were smashed. Among the items stolen were two bags that contained an iPad mini, iPad 2 and iPod touch, wallet, credit cards, birth certificates, blue tooth speakers, DVD, camera, three hard drives, driver’s license and all four passenger’s passports.

A credit card company said the credit cards had already been used for purchases in Buffalo.

In another case a vehicle break-in was reported between 8 and 9:30 p.m. Sunday in a vehicle in the Denny’s parking lot at 443 Main Street.

A South Carolina man said he had stopped to eat with his family and when he returned to his Chevrolet Suburban he found the lock smashed and a laptop, Kindle, and two iPads had been stolen.
