A Toronto man faces a lengthy prison term after being indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of trying to bring a minor over the border to work as a prostitute.

D’Shawn Rose, 20, faces arraignment on single counts of transporting an individual to engage in prostitution, inducing an individual to travel to engage in prostitution and transporting a minor to engage in prostitution.

U.S. Attorney William Hochul said if Rose is convicted of the charges he faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and maximum penalty of life and a fine of $250,000.

Hochul and Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward H. White said that several months ago, Rose was dropped at the Peace Bridge with an underaged girl he had driven with from Toronto. Authorities said Rose was planning to fly with the girl from here to Las Vegas, where she was supposed to engage in prostitution for Rose.
