Two men arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated in separate incidents overnight in Clarence and Alden are accused of driving with blood-alcohol levels of more than twice the legal limit, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning.
In the first case, Deputy Lee Richard stopped a vehicle that was driving erratically at 11:04 p.m. Saturday on Wehrle Drive in Clarence.
A breath test revealed the driver had a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 percent, well over the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
In addition to aggravated DWI, Matthew C. Linde, 33, of Clarence, is charged with driving with an open container of alcohol and was cited for traffic infractions. He must appear in Clarence Town Court at a later date.
In the other case, at 4:05 a.m. today, Deputy Gene Nati investigated a one-car, property-damage crash on Walden Avenue near the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden.
He arrested the driver, Justin M. Kroh, 26, of Alden, after a breath test revealed a blood-alcohol level of 0.20 percent. Kroh is charged with aggravated DWI and was cited for traffic infractions and he must appear later in Alden Town Court.
With these arrests, and two others made overnight, deputies on road patrol for the Sheriff’s Office have arrested 105 people for DWI since the start of the year.
