Three men were arrested on weapons possession and marijuana charges after a loaded handgun and 11 bags of marijuana were found in a car stopped about 3 a.m. Saturday, Ferry-Fillmore District police said.
Charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance are Jeremy John, 18, of Ketchum Place; Michael Gibson, 20, of Jasper Parrish Drive; and John Simmons, 19, of 14th Street.
The arrests occurred after police stopped a car in the 500-block of East Ferry Street for running a red light. A Luger 9-mm pistol and a magazine with five bullets were found in the car, along with nine bags of marijuana in the center console and two more bags in the pocket of one of the suspects, police said.
