OLEAN – City police armed with a search warrant raided an indoor marijuana-growing operation Saturday night and seized a growing system and 220 pot plants.
Roman Gabriel, 34, of West Green Street, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and unlawfully growing cannabis. He was held on $5,000 bail.
The 10:30 p.m. raid resulted in the seizure of plants that might have yielded $200,000 worth of marijuana, police said. The hydroponic growing system, valued at $10,000, was found in the house and garage, which police said were owned by his parents, Thomas and Mary Gabriel. Officers seized lighting, an irrigation and ventilation system and fertilizers.
